BattleTimer — Online 1v1 Timing Duel
Last updated: July 25, 2026
Rokon Tech ("we", "our", or "us") operates the BattleTimer mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Information Stored Locally
- Player Tag: The name you choose is stored on your device so you don't have to re-enter it.
- Streaks & Settings: Your current win streak and best streak are kept locally on your device.
Account & Leaderboard
- Player Tag: Before your first match you choose a public tag. It is stored together with an anonymous account identifier so your wins stay attached to you. Tags are globally unique, so we keep a small registry of claimed tags to prevent duplicates.
- Match Wins & Streaks: Your total wins (and your current/best streak) are stored in our cloud database and shown on the global Hall of Fame leaderboard. Your tag and win count are public; nothing else about you is published.
Online Matches
When you look for an opponent, the following temporary data is exchanged so a 1v1 match can be set up and played:
- Your anonymous player identifier and public tag, so your opponent can see who they are facing
- Connection details (WebRTC signaling data, including network addresses gathered by your device) needed to establish a direct peer-to-peer connection with your opponent
- Match data during play: the round's target time, when each player tapped STOP, and the score
Match rooms are temporary and are cleaned up after the match ends.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Email addresses, phone numbers, or real names
- Location data
- Contacts, photos, or other device content
- Health, financial, or sensitive personal data
- A password or sign-in credentials (sign-in is anonymous)
2. Third-Party Services
Google Firebase
We use Google Firebase for the following: Firebase Authentication (anonymous sign-in to associate your tag and wins with a device-bound identifier), Cloud Firestore (player profiles, the tag registry, the global leaderboard, and temporary matchmaking rooms), and Google Analytics for Firebase (aggregate, non-identifying usage metrics such as active users, matches played, and match outcomes, to help us improve the App). Firebase processes data as described in Firebase's Privacy and Security policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
WebRTC (Peer-to-Peer)
During an online match, gameplay messages travel directly between the two players over an encrypted WebRTC data channel (DTLS). Firebase is used only to introduce the two players to each other; the match itself does not pass through our servers. Establishing a direct connection requires each device to share network addresses (ICE candidates) with its opponent, which may include your device's IP address — this is inherent to how peer-to-peer connections work. We also use public STUN servers operated by Google to discover those addresses.
Google AdMob
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements: an interstitial ad at a natural break between matches, and optional rewarded video ads (for example, to double a win or save a win streak). Rewarded ads are always your choice — you can skip them and keep playing. Google AdMob may collect and use certain data, including device information and advertising identifiers, as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
Apple SKAdNetwork & App Tracking Transparency (iOS)
On iOS we use Apple's SKAdNetwork to attribute ad conversions in a privacy-preserving way, and on iOS 14.5+ we request your permission via App Tracking Transparency before using your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) for personalized ads. You can change this at any time in your device Settings.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To match you with an opponent and run a fair 1v1 match
- To show your tag and win count on the global Hall of Fame leaderboard
- To keep your streak and player tag across sessions
- To understand aggregate usage (e.g., active users, matches played) and improve the App
- To serve advertisements through Google AdMob
4. Data Storage and Security
Local game data is stored only on your device. Your tag, wins, and streaks are stored in Google Firebase on secured Google Cloud infrastructure. Peer-to-peer match traffic is encrypted by WebRTC's built-in DTLS encryption. We do not sell, trade, or rent your data to third parties beyond the services described above.
5. Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Sign-in is anonymous and no real-world identity is required. Please choose a player tag that does not reveal personal information.
6. Your Rights & Choices
- Play against the bot instead of going online
- Use any player tag you like (no real name required)
- Skip every rewarded ad — they are optional and never required to play
- Opt out of personalized ads through your device settings, or deny tracking on iOS via App Tracking Transparency
- Request deletion of your player tag, wins, and leaderboard entry by contacting us (see below)
- Clear all local game data by uninstalling the App
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
